In October 2023, we asked you about your student experience in our All-Student Survey.

Check out the responses from our Careers and Employability team regarding your student feedback.

More information about job vacancies

Students can log in to CareerHub to engage with the wide range of services and opportunities available. We promote a whole range of vacancies on CareerHub and via social media (@chestercareers) and through our Employer in the Foyer opportunities.

We also include job vacancies in Student Shout Out every week and also send all students that are signed up to CareerHub regular update. If you would find it helpful to talk to us you can find out when appointments are available via CareerHub or visit us at a Drop In session or in our main office on Exton Park.

More subject-specific career events

Many courses offer in curriculum support through guest speakers, panel attendees etc., as well as extra curricular support form Careers and Employability. We encourage students to come and meet with a Career Consultant so that we can understand any areas of interest and work with you to look for and engage with opportunities to engage with industry experts.

Placements after your degree

Placements are usually embedded as part of a course and unfortunately, very few employers offer placement opportunities following completion of a course but they may well offer a Graduate Scheme or graduate jobs instead. Some employers do advertise graduate internships and these can be found on job search sites like Student Circus (international students) and RateMyPlacement, and Indeed etc. Check out this page on CareerHub for an overview of placements and internships. On this page you can also find out about Virtual Internship opportunities which may have more flexible start dates.

More online careers events

We offer a range of careers events and offer many of our sessions online to ensure that students and graduates can attend from any location.

More in-person events away from Exton Park

We have hosted a range of Employer in the Foyer events across our sites in the Autumn term and as our Employer in the Foyer scheme continues to grow, we aim to offer even more employer engagement opportunities at the various sites, where the needs of the employer matches the student population.

Placements for Postgraduate Taught/Masters

Placements which are part of your degree are organised by your academic department so please speak to them. For placements outside of your degree, please take a look at this page on CareerHub.

More part-time job opportunities for international students

Our UniJob roles are open to all students (unless there is a specific requirement from the recruiting department e.g. PhD student would be most suitable) but these roles are open to international and UK domiciled students. We do have some Workplace Experience roles that we offer but these may specify UK students depending on the funding. Our Careers and Employability Team are happy to support with applications for roles on campus or part time work outside of the University.

International students can also access Student Circus which is created exclusively for international students and is free to University of Chester students and graduates.
