Kate is a veterans health researcher at the UoC Westminster Centre for Research in Veterans where she works on military health related research projects. Kate is also completing her PhD which explores mental health and help-seeking in military families, with a particular focus on the impact that service-related mental health might have upon military partners.

Appropriately timed on Remembrance Day, the aim of this presentation is to promote understanding of the health status of our Armed Forces Community. In this presentation, Kate will provide a summary of evidence highlighting aetiologies and prevalence of service-related mental health alongside the help-seeking behaviours of our Armed Forces Community. Kate will also provide an overview of her PhD research which demonstrates the benefits of exploring the perspectives of those involved in the provision of formal and informal support for military veterans, whilst highlighting the needs of military partners who provide mental health support. Kate will briefly summarise her preliminary findings and offer insight into the intended impact of her research.
