How to Access Your Enrolment Confirmation Letter and Guidance on Working in the UK

As an international student, we understand that you may have questions about working in the UK and how to provide proof of your student status to employers. The information below will guide you through how to access your enrolment confirmation letter via eVision and outlines the key rules about working while on a Student Visa.

Accessing Your Enrolment Confirmation Letter

Once you are fully enrolled, you can download your enrolment confirmation letter through your eVision account. This letter includes:

Please note:

  • The University does not include term or vacation dates directly in the letter, in line with Home Office guidance

How to download your letter:

Follow this link for a step-by-step guide:
How to Access Your Enrolment Confirmation Letter – PDF Guide

Working in the UK on a Student Visa

Your digital visa (eVisa) will show how many hours you are permitted to work.

If you are enrolled on a full-time course lasting at least six months, and you hold a Student Visa, you are permitted to:

  • Work up to 20 hours per week during term time (Bachelor’s/Undergraduate, Master’s/Postgradaute Taught, and Postgraduate Research degrees)
  • Work up to 10 hours per week during term time (Foundation programmes)
  • Work full-time during official University vacation periods
  • Work full-time after your official course end date (as stated on your CAS), if you have fully completed your course

Important reminders:

  • A week is defined as a 7-day period starting on Monday to Sunday
  • Training hours count towards your total weekly hours
  • Your pay and your working hours are separate. This means that you can work during a time when you get holiday pay for a different job, and you can receive more than 20 hours of holiday pay in a week. This is because only your hours actively working are counted.

You are NOT permitted to:

  • Work as a doctor in training
  • Work as a professional sportsperson or coach
  • Work as an entertainer
  • Be self-employed or run a business
  • Fill a full-time, permanent vacancy

Students on a Standard Visitor Visa are not permitted to undertake any paid or unpaid work.
