Over the next few months, we’ll be making some key improvements to Seaborne Library at Exton Park and Wheeler Library.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the works, this means Seaborne Library will be much noisier than usual and Wheeler Library will be completely unaccessible at times. But don’t worry – we’ve got lots of alternative quiet spaces across our sites for you to study in:
All sites
We have a number of bookable spaces across all sites. You can check availability and book these study spaces via Spaces
Exton Park
- On the first floor of Binks, we now have a dedicated Student Study Space (BK232).
- We have bookable private study spaces in Alexandra House, Margaret House and Hollybank. You can find and book these via Spaces.
- CSU and the Dining Rooms are also much quieter over the summer period so make a great alternative study area.
Other sites
- Our libraries at Creative Campus, Kingsway, Queen’s Park, University Centre Birkenhead and our library provision at University Centre Warrington are open to all students. Find out more about opening times and details of our libraries and remember to have your university ID clearly displayed during every visit.
- Additional study space is available through the SCONUL Access Scheme at partner universities.
What happens if I require access to print resources which may not be accessible whilst works take place?
- Our portfolio of digital resources, including eBooks and eJournals will continue to be available and can be accessed through Library Search
- If you require access to a resource in our print collections which we do not have online you can pop your request through our On Demand service where we will source the resource for you. This service is free to use.
Details about this service are as follows:
- Check Library Search to see if we already hold the item.
- If not, or if the title is marked as in storage, complete the request form.
- We will source the item for you or borrow it from another library.
- Digital items will be emailed to you, and we will let you know when physical items are ready for collection.
How will I access LIS staff support during these refurbishment works?
- Seaborne Library will continue to operate their staffed helpdesk from the same location. Click here to view opening times.
- As staff in Wheeler Library relocate to the first floor of the library there may be some interruption to the staffed service whilst works take place.
- You can also contact us online via LIS Customer Services, via telephone, 01244 511234 or email lis.helpdesk@chester.ac.uk for help
- Our Library Learning and Teaching and Academic Skills teams are also available offering help and support including help with research for evidence based resources, academic writing, statistical analysis and more
- Our Digital Capabilities site includes a range of links and how to guides to support digital skills.
We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding.
