At the University of Chester, we don’t just listen to your student voice – we also act on it!
Check out some of the changes our Careers and Employability team have made over the last 12 months.
Get a Graduate Job Month
Student feedback from our pilot ‘Get a Graduate Job Month’ provision showed that the timing of the activity was not appropriate for all students due to their course work commitments. In 2024 we will run Get a Graduate Job Scheme over a longer period to enable more students to take advantage of the support on offer to get a job with an employer keen to recruit our graduates.
Chester Difference Award (CDA)
For CDA we have made a number of changes based on student feedback:
- The process has been streamlined to make it easier to add activities and complete sections
- In-curriculum activities that enhance employability can now be counted towards the CDA
- There is a new Research section based on feedback from PGR students
- A new home page has been created to make the information about the CDA easier to find and in order to make content more accessible
Venture Programme
- The Venture team have arranged new sessions later in the afternoon and early evening to align with student preference as much as possible, especially as many students are working alongside their studies.
- We have also collaborated with the Chester Business School and Business Development Manager to run joint networking opportunities for students and local businesses due to feedback asking us for more social events for students. The first one ran on the 15 November 2023.
- We are continuing to deliver the majority of Venture sessions online based on feedback from students. From our post session feedback form, 89% of students have stated that they would prefer sessions to remain online.
