Library Skills sessions
- Finding resources on Library Search and you e-libraries

Join this session to learn how to find e-books, print books and journal articles through the University’s Library Search database. Module e-libraries will also be highlighted, including how to locate subject e-journals and database links.
This session is a must for learning the basics of searching for academic information and will also highlight techniques such as saved searches and citation tools.

A considered, replicable, transparent literature search forms the basis of a systematic review. Learn how to plan and construct an effective literature search, gain advice on where to look for the most relevant literature for your discipline, and suggestions for documenting your search and search results.
This session will enable you to:

- Create a search strategy for a systematic literature search
- Identify key relevant resources for your search
- Apply advanced search techniques and retrieve relevant literature

- Using EndNote 21 – Are you tired of wrestling with your citations?

This session looks at practical ways to use EndNote 21 to help organise and manage your research references. We will focus on why use an EndNote library to collect, save and organise your references and any associated research notes or full text papers together. Then we will use the Cite While You Write feature to insert, edit and format your references as you work.

Are you starting your literature review and don’t know where to start?
This session is aimed at final year undergraudate and postgraduate students and will help you to plan your searches and use time saving search techniques to find the most relevant academic sources. Learn how to use subject specific databases to find high quality academic journals and research papers.

- Advanced session using EndNote 21

This session is aimed at staff and students who have already attended an introduction session. It aims to help you personalise your EndNote library further by:
- Creating groups to organise your references, use PDF notes and keyword searching
- Import extra styles and adapt templates
- Import references from wider sources not compatible with EndNote via direct export – eg. Google Scholar

Digital Skills Week
We are also joining with the Digital Skills and Capabilities Team to provide a range of sessions during Digital Skills Week.
Digital Skills Week will be taking place from Monday, April 7 to Friday, April 11. The LIS Digital Capabilities & Technologies Team and our Library Learning and Teaching Team will be hosting a series of workshops for staff during Digital Skills week including sessions such as how to create a mind map using Mind Meister, using Vevox polls in PowerPoint presentations, creating Microsoft Loop components, and practical ways to use EndNote 21.
