The Faculty of Science Business and Enterprise is delighted to introduce the World of Work (WOW) series. This brand-new lecture series, hosted by lecturers Fran & Henry from the Department of Management, presents a variety of thinkers to inspire and provide a unique insight into the world of work.

Tony is currently Vice Chairman of the Archwood group and has a consultancy business.

He originally grew up in Halewood, Liverpool before he joined International Timber – a national timber importer in 1979 as a management trainee.

After training, he started in operational management, converting across to a commercial role after several years and then rising through the ranks to become a Director at 32. The business was acquired by French Giant Saint Gobain in 1999 – a €70billon turnover conglomerate. Tony continued to develop in his role, becoming Managing Director in 2007. Through business, Tony is widely travelled and has visited North and South America, the Far East, West Africa, Scandinavia and the Baltics. He has held several directorships of trade associations and he is also a Member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals, and Mining.

In 2017 he left International Timber to join the Archwood Group – a family-owned business to see if the skill base he had built was transferable to an SME. He lives with his wife in Llangollen, North Wales.

He hopes to share his leadership experiences with you.

All students and staff welcome. Book your place.
