Omega are the national association for end of life care, and run a series of initiatives to support people who may be experiencing loneliness. For this Give it a go session, they will be running a series of activities to provide you with a taster into the role of a volunteer telephone befriender, so that you can learn more about what’s involved.

If you are a University Centre Shrewsbury student this will be a great opportunity to learn about a local charity and the roles they have available.

We will meet as a group at University Centre Shrewsbury, and take a short walk to the Omega offices in Shrewsbury Town Centre. The taster session will include a quiz, an introduction to the role and a chance to meet the staff and current volunteers.

Telephone befriending is a great, flexible way to volunteer that can fit around your studies, provide you with a chance to develop your communication skills, all whilst helping people to feel less lonely.

If this sounds like a volunteer role you would be interested in and would like to find out more, join us for this Give it a go session!

You can find out more and express your interest on the Volunteer Hub activity listing, and if you have any questions, please contact the team by emailing volunteering@chester.ac.uk

Meet at 1.30pm at University Centre Shrewsbury
