In this session, you will learn: 

  • The importance of recording your search results 
  • What is PRISMA? 
  • How to complete a PRISMA flow diagram 
  • Using EndNote to help organise your recording and reporting of results 

Please note this session WILL NOT cover meta-analysis or applying inclusion/exclusion criteria.

It will also briefly introduce EndNote as a tool you may wish to consider using, but functionality is only covered in dedicated sessions.

Library Skills: Guide to streaming Audio-Visual resources (Film, television, documentary, theatre, music, dance)

Did you know that the University provides a wide range of audio-visual resources that you can access 24/7 for your research?

From Box of Broadcasts (for television shows, documentaries and film) and Kanopy Film to Naxos Music and Rocks Back Pages (for musical streaming and music journalism/magazines).  This session will show you how to locate all of these resources as well as Digital Theatre Plus for filmed productions, dramatology, writers, directors and performance criticism. 

All students are welcome to this session, it might be particularly helpful for Music, Media and Performance, Social and Political Science, Humanities and Education.

Library Skills: Advanced EndNote

This session will build upon the introduction session and will include the following: 

  • How to sort references and arrange references into groups and smart groups and search your library using keywords to aid quick discovery   
      
  • Where to find and download output styles not already present in EndNote and changing output styles using Cite Whilst You Write  
     
  • How to search and import references using wider sources that are not fully compatible with EndNote via direct import options (e.g., Google Scholar)   

Aimed at all staff and students (level 6 and above) who have either attended an introductory session already with LIS or have used EndNote before.
