Give it a go – Bird and bat box building

Help make bat and bird boxes to improve spaces on campus for wildlife.  This will give birds places to nest and will help them to call the campus their home. It will also give bats a place to roost.

Want to try something different? Give back to others? Meet students? ‘Give it a go’ sessions are one-off opportunities to volunteer – open to all students and no experience necessary! Email volunteering@chester.ac.uk if you have any questions.

Get Involved with Chester STAR (Student Action for Refugees)

Are you interested in making a positive difference and helping to create a more welcoming university? Chester STAR (Student Action for Refugees) is inviting students to get involved.

STAR is a student-led group supporting the University’s University of Sanctuary work. Whether you have lived experience of migration or asylum, or simply want to learn more and take action, everyone is welcome.

What does STAR do?

  • Work with university staff and community partners, including Chester City of Sanctuary
  • Plan and promote events that raise awareness and encourage inclusion
  • Play a key role in organising and promoting Refugee Week 2026 activities

Why join?

  • Make a real and meaningful difference
  • Meet like-minded students and work as a team
  • Build skills in leadership, teamwork and event planning
