At Chester, we are committed to looking after your fitness, health and wellbeing whilst at University and we offer a variety of facilities, programmes, activities, challenges and events. No matter your skill level or experience we have something for you, we’re here to help you be active and look after your physical and mental wellbeing. 

Many of our facilities and programmes are free to use for students including our fitness classes, Active Campus activities, golf simulator, spin studio, squash courts, tennis courts, 3G and astro pitches and sports hall. We also run the Athletics’ Union (AU) which is home to around 40 sports clubs at the University.    

Gym

The Fitness Suite comprises of the Gym and Swimming Pool and is based on the ground floor of the Price Tower building at Exton Park campus.  

Please visit UoC Portal for Fitness Suite opening times as they are subject to change throughout term. Please note, the Fitness Suite is closed on Bank Holidays.

We have a variety of memberships at competitive prices. We are one of the cheapest in the area. Click here to find out more.

Swim

We have a 25-metre Swimming Pool with a depth ranging from 1.5-metres to 3.5-metres. Open swim sessions are available to all students and staff of the University and is FREE with any gym membership. We also offer lane swimming and family swim.

A separate Swim Membership costs £60 for 12 months from September 2024.

Fitness Classes

​​​​Sport and Active Lifestyle offer a number of FREE Fitness Classes available to all students and staff of the University check our events page to see the current classes on offer. You can book your place on Playwaze on Portal or via the Playwaze app. 

Active Zones

Equipment at these sites include Arc trainers, Rowers, Bikes, Mats, Core bags, Steps, and mats 

All users must watch this Induction Video before using the Active Zone. Instructions on how to use the equipment are available via QR codes on each machine 

University Centre Birkenhead

  • Located on the ground floor of Marriss House (HMA 009)   

Queen’s Park Campus

  •   Located on the lower ground floor Churchill House (CCUB06)
