February is LGBT+ History Month, so we just wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some useful support and resources both within and outside of the University:
- Our Wellbeing and Mental Health service is available to offer support, advice and information for ALL students. Email wellbeing@chester.ac.uk to get in touch.
- Our Student Assistance Programme offers a 24/7 dedicated student helpline for in-the-moment support. Students can also access up to six counselling sessions. Call free on 0800 028 3766.
- Galop have launched the UK’s first LGBT+ Rape and Sexual Abuse Helpline, open Monday to Thursday 10am-8.30pm and Friday 10am-4.30pm – it can be accessed by calling 0800 999 5428 or emailing help@galop.org.uk
- The GYRO Group (Liverpool) is a group for young LGBTQ+ and questioning people aged 12-25. Call 0151 707 1025 or email gyro@ypas.org.uk or click here to find out more.
- The Viva Group (Rhyl) provides Youth groups and support for LGBTQ+ and questioning young people aged 14 – 25. For more info you can call 01745357941 or email info@vivalgbt.co.uk or follow them on Facebook or Twitter.
- Body Positive (Cheshire and North Wales): Technicolour Women is a Lesbian and Bi Women’s Group which runs the first and third Thursday of every month – 7pm-9pm.
- Body Positive (Cheshire and North Wales): Technicolour Men is a Gay and Bi Men’s Group which runs on Mondays every two weeks – 7pm-9pm.
- Body Positive (Cheshire and North Wales): Technicolour Trans Positive is a Social Support Group for Gender Diverse people in Cheshire which takes place once a month on the second Tuesday of the month – 7pm-9pm.
