We’re pleased to announce that the new and extended PG Study Space in Seaborne Library was opened on Monday 26 June. Some work is still ongoing, however we’re pleased to confirm the following updates:

Lockers

The old PG space is no longer accessible – we appreciate lockers are still located here, so please ask at the helpdesk for access. Please remove your belongings as soon as possible so that we can relocate them into the new space.

Space Themes/Use

We will be sourcing furniture to make use of the spaces for collaborative work and in the seminar room. The seminar room will also have AV equipment. We are looking into some shelving to host copies of guidance you may need for reference. Any further ideas you may have about how to make the space more PGR friendly, please share on the PGR Space Discussion channel here

Decoration/Signage

This is part of the wider Seaborne refurbishment schedule but will be undertaken over the summer. This includes the promotion of the space using materials over the windows between the PG space and lower hub, to promote the space and restrict any ‘goldfish bowl’ effect. This is being done in conjunction with the MRA team.

Kitchenette

A newly fitted kitchen (including a dishwasher!) has been installed. Plumbing, flooring and decoration are required before we can move some appropriate furniture in.

Access

Two of the three doors have access control and will be set up only for those permitted entrances (as per the last space). One door has no access control fitted yet, so will be usable – despite notices in place, please be understanding if a non-PG student or user walks in – they may not realise.
