The University of Chester Sustainability Unit is launching a ‘Let’s Talk Transport’ group which will facilitate discussions around the barriers to sustainable travel and look for potential solutions.  

Meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of each month and focus on different themes: 

Wednesday 9 November  – Introduction and Our Vision  

During this meeting we will discuss the aim of the group, its monthly themes and what the Sustainability Team currently do in relation to Sustainable Transport at the University.

Wednesday 14 December  – An Integrated Approach to Transport 

We will discuss how the Sustainability Team work with the local council and  their strategy. 

Wednesday 11 January  – Q&A Panel 

This will be a Q&A style session. The panel will include representatives from local initiatives.

Wednesday 8 February  – Focus Group: Public Transport  

Wednesday 8 March – Focus Group: Car Use  

Wednesday 5 April – Focus Group: Active Travel 

The three meetings above will be focused discussions around the barriers to travel on specific transport modes. 

Wednesday 10 May – Contextualising Sustainable Transport 

We will seek to understand what our University and city could look with a sustainable transport network, what this would take and any barriers there may be to its implementation. 

Wednesday 14 June – The Transport Accessibility Gap 

This month’s meeting will unpack the issues surrounding accessibility and sustainable transport modes.
